Jimmy L. Nyeango (b. Bamenda, Cameroon) is a Cameroonian-Chinese filmmaker working between Los Angeles and New York. He studied Economics at the University of California, Irvine, but found that his most formative experiences relating to his practice occurred during English Literature and Asian-American Literature studies. He soon found himself in the basement of his university’s library scouring their vast archive of films from all over the world, and sneaking into lectures on film theory. His practice is driven by a lifelong exploration of dual truths — that two perspectives can often be true simultaneously, even if they seem contradictory — highlighting the complexities of the human experience through themes of identity, intimacy and belonging through the lens of fashion and documentary filmmaking.
